Yelp’s been around since 2004 and continues to influence millions of customers through business reviews and search engine results each year. Let’s examine some ways to use Yelp to your best advantage.

Go Undercover

Start by reading the profiles and reviews of your local competitors. What business opportunities do you see from what their customers are saying?

Be sure to differentiate between business profiles with complete profiles (current information, good photos, active/recent reviews) and incomplete profiles.

Photos Are Key

Creating an excellent photo gallery is one of the most important things you can do for your Yelp business profile. Great photos grab attention (the web is after all a visual medium!), remind returning customers of their positive experiences, and can help first-time customers recognize your storefront from the street.

Engage With Your Customers

Treat customer reviews on Yelp seriously and respond to them whenever possible. This shows your business cares about feedback (both positive and negative!) and that you’re willing to listen. If you’re not sure what to say, take a few minutes and let Yelp help! They have great advice for responding to reviews here.
